Michael was the youngest of my four brothers and I, the youngest of his four sisters. Despite the age gap, Michael and Angi always made a place for me in their lives. Because of Michael I got my first record player, which he revamped to make it look good. He sourced my collection of Dickens works which proudly sit on my bookshelf. He ensured he visited me when I moved to Newcastle upon Tyne on one of their trips back to the UK. I was always a welcomed guest at their home in Norfolk and later Perth, to the extent he and Angi gave up their bed for me, and slept on the floor. Imagine the generosity of that and how valued that made me feel. They wouldn't take no for an answer.
He had a beautiful soul. He could be outspoken, bossy, grumpy, but always, always kind, thoughtful and good company. He was a craftsmen but too modest about his skills which were more than skills, they were an art form.
He has left me with many happy memories but perhaps my best memories are of Michael and Angi dancing together. It was beautiful and they looked so right together He has left a most incredible legacy through his children and grandchildren and Angi's inspirational work. Though we will miss the man he had been, I'm relieved that his ferocious fight is over and he can rest.
Hope there's a decent pub up there and the family there already will get in the first round or two!!. Thank you Michael for the memories and the time you gave me. They meant so much to me. Love always, Helen xx
My family too send love, Alan, Nicola, Charlie and James and Katie, Neil, Huxley and Casper xxxxxxxxx

Dear Michael, watching you through these years fight this terrible disease has been very hard to watch. You fought dementia like a true hero.
Having a father in law like you we had many moments of times where we would clash in opinions but they were far few , then the times we had as a family celebrating the many wonderful special moments.
Thankyou for all the special memories we got to share in your journey, you were a wonderful grandpa and father to me and you will be missed. Rest in peace ❤️
