On behalf of the industry I say thank you! Thank you for always being honest, genuine and such an incredible support. To watch you with the young chefs was honestly such a privilege. You were in so many ways the godfather the person who radiated confidence and always created a steady calm. Rest in Peace dear Patrick. Your legacy will live in and your memory will never fade.

Pat's passion for the industry and everyone in it was inspiring. He helped so many young ones get started, including one of my family members. With a wicked sense of humour and a cheeky smile, this loyal Chef will be missed. Condolences to family, friends and work mates 💕

Very sad on the loss of a great man. His strength inspired me and he was ever encouraging in my work life. Great for a laugh and very supportive and loyal to those working for him. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t worked with Pat for those years. Love and condolences to his family and close friends at this very sad time.
May you rest in peace and rise in glory
My heart is heavy knowing that this wonderful man, who has done so much for the young and old. Is no longer with us.
You have always done what you could and beyond for everyone. I am so honoured to have met you, talk with you and even see you smile with pride and admiration.
I hope you continue to watch over all of us and guide the young talent as they go through their journey.
We were very lucky to have you with us, no matter how long it was. But it was never enough.

The world is poorer for the loss of a truly great man. So many superlatives to describe a man full of honour & commitment but the one that will live on for many, many generations is Chef.
Thank you Chef for your teachings, your mentorship, your guidance and the many, many conversations.
Condolences to Patrick’s Family& sister Lily on his sudden & untimely death. May you rest in peace dear Cousin
We were saddened and shocked to hear the sudden and unexpected passing of Pat while her was in Singapore attending the Worldchefs Congress. I have known pat for more than 40 years when we studied together in Cathal Brugha Street College of Catering. I always looked forward to meeting up with him when he came home to Ireland. I always admired his strength and positive attitiude to life and especially when dealing with his health challenges. he was a very proud Irish man and true friend. his commitment to his students and team members is legendary. and with this he made a difference to peoples lives.
We are sending our sincere condolences to his wife Rose and Family and to his sister lily.
Rest Easy Pat the light of heaven is shining on you

A great man and friend who will be sadly missed. RIP Pat.
Chef Patrick’s guidance shaped not just my skills in the kitchen, but my perspective on what it means to lead with integrity and heart. I will forever be grateful for the time and wisdom he shared with me. His legacy will continue to live on in the work we do and the way we carry his lessons forward.
With deepest sympathy
“Dead men naked they shall be one
With the man in the wind and the west moon
When their bones are picked clean and the clean bones gone
They shall have stars at elbow and foot
Though they go mad they shall be sane,
Though they sink through the sea they shall rise again
Though lovers be lost love shall not;
And death shall have no dominion.”
An amzing man, mentor and chef. I will miss you. x
Dearest Patty'O

Chef Patrick,
You will be sadly missed by many that have crossed your path and the culinary industry that you played a massive part in, but you will not be forgotten.
Rest easy Chef.
Paddy me old mate, I will miss all our discussions, our laughs, our friendship, our competitions and most of all our overseas trips. May you rest in peace now and I will catch you up there sometime, hopefully not too soon! Cheers 😇😇

Sincere condolences to the O'Brien family on the sudden passing of Pat. He will be sorely missed. I'm grieving with you here in Melbourne and thinking of all the fun we had through the years. May Pat rest in Peace.
Patrick
I only met you once. In Sydney at the ACF breakfast at Food Service Australia.
A one in 20 (or so) chance, I found myself sitting at your table and sat next to you.
Within 2 minutes you had made me feel welcome (and made me laugh).
That one meeting I will remember forever.
You’re everlasting legacy will remain with our industry forever
My love, support and condolences again not only to Patrick’s family but to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting a true gentleman.
A very special person that always put others first , a lot of young people will certainly have you in their thoughts , as will I
Will miss you Pat , the very best wishes to all your Family
Chris
Too many years and too many memories to put into words, you were one of a kind. The one thing that I would like to share with you, as we so often were there in competition against the world is this
My prayers and thoughts are with your family in this time. I will always remember Pat as a passionate and committed chef determined to see the next generation more than succeed. His life has inspired and touched so many of us over the years. Much culinary love.
Dear Pat and Family, I will only ever remember Pat with the fondest of memories of over 30 years, from the time he took 1 point off me in a competition in WA to leave me with a score of 99/100 :-) because I used the wrong word in my description to telling me 3 years ago to hurry up and get my application in for the National Team, he never wavered from his dedication to our trade and only ever wanted the best for us all. We can all only be proud of having known Pat OAM. Rest in Peace Chef
Pat it has been a pleasure to have known you and work with you. You have provided inspiration to many aspiring chefs over the years and you have worked tirelessly to promote the hospitality industry. I know you will leave a large hole in your family but hopefully Rose and your children and grandchildren will have the lasting memory of your great sense of humour and the appreciation of all who’s lives you touched. Rest in eternal peace
Dear Pat, you have been & will always be in my heart. 30 + years of mentoring & I have always called you for advice because you told me in our first meeting - listen to the everything & call me & I will tell you how it is going down, now when I make decisions I think what would Pat say - so he will always be in my head too, I value so much the knowledge he has passed on to me & can only hope I live up to his expectations.
