Nanna you were a woman of happiness, strength, kindness, thoughtfulness, generosity and unwavering love.
Nanna, there are so many memories we’ll never forget. From the world’s best porridge that you’d make for us before school (which none of us have seemed to be able to replicate). To your ‘bits and bobs’. The family dinners full of love and laughter sat around the dining table on Gemsarna Crescent, sharing your famous chicken casserole. The vanilla ice cream with Ice Magic you gave us for dessert. To your ham, cheese and Branston pickle sandwiches that you made with such care and of course sharing chocolate drops with your dog Chay before you tucked us into bed.
We will never forget the Friday night sleepovers, the nights on the front lawn camping in the tent under the stars or the beans on toast and orange juice you’d bring us to the tent in the morning.
We will never forget the evenings spent looking through the family photo albums and the stories of the wonderful life you and Grandpa shared that came with it. Nanna, had a photo and album for everything.
We will miss you singing along to Elvis on the old record player and listening to Enya when you wanted to relax and the little phrases that you made like ‘I beg your pardon’ when we accidentally slipped out a swear word or ‘give over’ when we’d whinge or complain too much.
We will always remember those extra slow drives to and from school or the shops or the excitement of Christmas knowing you gave the best presents.
But what we miss most is you, Nanna. Your kindness, your gentle soul and your love. You had a way of making us feel at ease and your home was always a place of happiness, comfort and relaxation that we would forever look forward to being there.
You were always there, Nanna, whether it was watching Stephanie at horse shows or Brandon playing football, you were there cheering us on. You were always so proud of us and what we achieved in life and we were just as proud to call you our Nanna.
The love you and Grandpa shared is an incredible inspiration, having been married for 61 years—a lifetime of love, commitment and devotion. You showed us what it truly means to stand by one another through all of life’s ups and downs, always with kindness and respect, something we will both cherish and aspire to in our own lives.
Thank you Nanna, for every memory, every moment, and every ounce of love you gave us. You have helped shape us into who we are today. We will carry you in our hearts always.
Love always and forever,
Stephanie and Brandon
