Ray was a kind and gracious gentleman and we feel privileged to have met him. We first came to know him through our shared connection to the aircrew in which his Uncle and my Father served during the war. That bond, forged in unimaginable circumstances, brought our families together in a very meaningful way. When we met Ray in England in 2015, we were struck by his warmth, gentle nature and genuine interest in others. It was a joy to see him again in 2015 when he visited Brisbane and shared time with my Father, who was one of the two survivors of the tragic crash that claimed Ray’s Uncle and seven others. Watching them connect over such poignant memories was deeply moving and something I will always treasure.
