My Grandmother was an incredible woman, in and out. I was her first grandchild, and she loved me so dearly. I also truly loved her back, and was very fond of her, even at a young age. I spent most of my life with her, and was in close contact with her. She taught me many things, including to be brave, modest and kind. The thing I liked most about her was her positivity and optimism. She could always see the bright light even in the most darkest of days and times. I will always remember her for this. She was also the most kind hearted person I have ever met in my life as well. She truly was a one of a kind person. She was also a very helpful person, and I would say she lived her life in service to other people. She was very attuned to other people’s emotions and would help out whenever she could. She truly had an amazing personality, and people were very much attracted to her. She truly is a one of a kind person and will be very much remembered.

SARAH BAKEE

I have many beautiful memories; I would like share few of them. Peri Aunty, you and your family stayed with us when thamby was bone. At that time, you made a beautiful white embroidery blouse and a long skirt for me. I still remember that you took the time to make embroidery for me. That dress was my favorite one. Many decades passed but still have that beautiful memory. My amma told me, you always make dresses for her too. You are a talented person. I love your fish curry with rice. You always ask me “Sarah amma can I give you a little amount of rice (sottu soru) with fish? When, I visited to your home. During the war time, we were afraid to sleep alone at our home. My amma always tell; let’s go to chinna-accka’s home. We always had a place to go to. You are sleeping in death now. We are waiting to see you soon, when our God fulfill his promise. Isaiah 26.19
