I was deeply saddened and shocked to learn of Peter's passing. He loved to share his passion for all things SF&F with other fans and was a regular at UniSFA, Unigames and conventions. I remember how softly spoken and articulate you were when you spoke about your favourite tv shows, films, novels; the RPGs you were playing; and above all the comics that you were reading. He was so generous with his time. All of this was with a gentle and kind heart. I will always cherish the time we had together discussing SF&F, reading comics, enjoying after panel discussions at conventions. These are precious memories. His presence is keenly missed. It was a privilege and honour to have called you friend. To his friends and family, my sincerest condolences and sympathies. May the passage of time and remembrance of happier times bring comfort and solace.

Vale Peter Lyons, my dear friend since Uni, who recently passed away from cancer. We spent many hours together playing RPGs and board games together, attending Swancon and other conventions, and talking until the late hours about everything from books, games, sf, movies & TV series, computers and open source, to politics and life. Always cheerful with a wry wit, he never had a bad word to say about anyone, and I could always rely on him to be there. I miss him greatly. In a lifetime of games there are many anecdotes and stories to tell, but one stands out, from his long-running Ars Magica campaign. The party had somehow trespassed into the forest, and offended the fae elves, who put us on trial for our lives. The trial was to be a contest of "telling lies" (stories). First we, the players, told a grand fantasy of dragons and magic. Then Peter, playing the fae council, responded with a tale of their own, of an "evil and despicable party of thieves, who hate everything about elves, and deliberately invaded the forest just to cause trouble" .. at this point, one of the players, deep into character, could not resist shouting out "THAT'S THE BIGGEST LIE I'VE EVER HEARD!!". At this point they realised what they had done, but too late, the trial was over (and we were handed many cruel and inventive punishments by the elves, another story). This anecdote stands out in my memory as Peter had so much fun with the whole scene, and his wit, humour, and creativity shone through.

Apologies, I won't be able to attend the funeral in person today, but I'll be watching the stream and with you in spirit. Peter and I first met through mutual friends back in our nightclubbing years (at The Firm, I think). He was a genuinely good soul with many interests and passions, and it's terrible to know Cancer has taken him from the world all too soon. RIP, Peter.

I’ve had the absolute pleasure of knowing Peter for over 15 years, and got to know and chat to him about a wide range of topics. Whether it was chatting about sci fi or fantasy tv shows, board games, computers, his interesting work gigs or life the universe and everything he was always kind, engaged and happy to chat. I feel lucky to have spent time with you regularly every week at quiz for many years and you never missed a birthday party. I remember fondly you introducing me to some of my favorite board games - Arkham Horror, Battlestar Galactica and 7 Wonders. You even sat out so I could play BSG while you taught us the game. I can still see you proudly walking in with every single Arkham Horror expansion and I’m glad I managed to get a picture of you with it after our 6 hour long marathon game. Thank you Peter for all the quiet, kind joy and intellectual curiosity you brought to my life. Rest in peace.

A wonderful, quietly spoken man, with an impish sense of humor. Always making people feel welcome, and getting quietly excited about his interests. Good luck on the next great adventure Peter, you will be missed

Watched online and it was a beautiful service. Unfortunately wasn't able to make it to Perth for the service, but both of our thoughts are with you and your family and friends. You were a good friend Peter and will be missed.

I miss you Peter, more than I'd have realised. But I'm glad you didn't have to live long in pain, even though you bore what you had so well. RIP.
