Ken Brown 9 May 1943 – 11 October 2025

I first met Ken about 2005 when he came to work as tour guide at the Fremantle Round House. At that time, I had given up driving because I was getting a bit long in the tooth and Ken lived not too far from me, he used to give me a lift. The drive to Freo and back gave us time to have compare notes. A tale he told me was about starting work pushing a banjo for the Millville Council and because he was pretty good at putting numbers together and they had job that was giving them some trouble this was not his job, but he could see a solution he quoted some figures, one of the bosses George Geneff approved it. he liked what Ken had done. He then encouraged Ken to go back to school and study engineering which Ken did, and George mentored Ken and eventually he qualified. I tell this story because in 1955 I started playing rugby for Nedlands Rugby and George Geneff was playing for Nedlands. I loved our tips because Ken loved talking about his forays in the bush and because I had spent most of early working life diamond drilling over a lot of Western Australian, we have seen a lot the same places. Ken was a great bloke and will be missed.

If I wrote your name in the sand The waves might wash it away. If I wrote your name in the sky The wind might blow it away. So I wrote your name in my heart And that's where it will stay, ALWAYS. Ti amo sempre

Dear Aunty Madeline, Deanna and Cindy (and families). Uncle Ken was a true legend, i always remember asking him to be my adopted grandfather as a young lad, and how he made me know that he was so proud to take on that role. We all remember the times he called us as Santa! It was a great service for Uncle Ken and really great to connect with his grandchildren again, hearing their stories also, as well as the tribute from the City of Armadale really made me reflect how many lives this legend touched. He ill be in our hearts and missed!
