CROWN of LIFE

TREASURED MEMORIES Our beloved sister and aunty CATHRINE TEOH Cathrine is a very important part of Crown of Life family. She was our beloved sister, our aunty, our mother, our family member. Each member has treasured memories with Cathrine. She was with us since the very beginning of Crown of Life; 10 years ago. Cathrine had devoted her life doing the best she could, and giving of herself to her family and friends. She believes in living out her faith in God by good deeds and she did so faithfully ever since she found God. She had a deep love and care for others, especially the elderly. That was her passion, serving and ministering to the elderly. She was selfless in her dedication to the seniors. She was generous with her time and her efforts. She would often go out of her way to bring them on outings and for meals, and to play their favourite pass time mahjong. Wherever there was good food, Catherine would always be there. Quite often, when she could not join us for meals –she would say, “Every time you take a bite, you’ll see my smiling face and say to yourself - I’ll keep that half bite for auntie Cathrine”. Every Sunday, we have home-cooked food for lunch. Cathrine always ensured everybody had food to eat and no one is missed. She had a nickname, “Food traffic controller”. She was forthright, discerning and witty. She knew when to have fun and hang loose; and when to be serious person. She was not afraid to share her opinions. Cathrine always encouraged us, especially the younger ones, to be and do better, and not to rest on our laurels. She would take the effort to provide advice on better career pathways; and support Pastor Dywen to render assistance to church members who faced tough challenges She was so thoughtful of us. For example – “Auntie Cathrine barely knew Binod’s grandmother, but she would arrange to get her Australian honey and Tim-Tams for his grandmother when he went back to Nepal to visit her.” (Biddya) One thing we’ve always noticed, whenever Pastor Dywen coughed while speaking during sermon, Cathrine was always the first one to bring a glass of water for Pastor. Though Cathrine was a senior, she was humble enough to accept corrections when she knew she was in the wrong. Her lively contributions to any discussions will be missed. We have been touched by Cathrine’s generosity of heart, her loving kindness, her cheerful laughter and her encouraging words; her enduring strength and perseverance in adversity. But above all – Cathrine was a woman of God. We are all very sad that we can’t see Cathrine, physically; but dear ones, remember, we will meet Cathrine in heaven one day - because we believe in, and place our trust and hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, Who was, and is and is to come. God says in the Gospel of John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Cathrine had fought the good fight of faith and finished her race well. We do not want her to go so soon, but our Heavenly Father knows the best for her. The Bible says, those who walk uprightly enter into God’s peace; they find eternal rest in God’s Presence. God will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain. A poem composed by Joyce for our dearest Cathrine. Caring is sharing! You cared to see that relationship is mended. That one has reached success with her PHD. Another now drives a repaired car. You'd drive to fetch the elderly to church. At every, after service lunch you'd be the last to eat. Dishing first, a plate for Pastor. Then policing that no one takes two helping of the yummiest food, until everyone has had their share. You were here, you were there and now we'd miss your presence everywhere. Dear Cathrine, how thankful we are, to have had you in our lives and forever you remain, a wonderful memory, deep with our hearts. This is not a good bye. Till we meet again, dearest Cathrine. With much love and prayers for Cathrine’s children. CROWN OF LIFE
