70 years ago, a little girl came up to me in the school playground, took my hand and said I'm going to be your best friend - and she was. Never a cross word and loads of laughs. I only have my lovely memories, there is a hole in my heart that will never be filled. Honoured to have you as a friend, will always miss you. Love Lin ( & Pete) Xxxxxxxx

Dear Chris, one of the best friends I have ever had. A gentle and caring person whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. Although I am so very sad, I smile when I think of you. Our family have had some wonderful times with you and Albie, full of fun and laughter. I'm so glad we managed to spend some time together in January and will treasure the memories. I will miss you so much. Rest now. Denise (and family)

Chrissie - a really brilliant friend for 64 years. Our young life and many holidays together with Albert and on our own are truly memorable. Your courage over the last three years plus, has been incredible. You will always be in my heart. Rest in peace dear friend. Christine (Dobbie) xxxx

These words aren't easy to write as this sad day has come far too early. It seems so unfair for someone so full of life to be taken too young. I will forever remember your encouraging dulcet tones; "go on Alb" as you stitched up poor Albie to do something! You made the world a brighter place and life won't be the same without you in it. You will be forever missed but never forgotten, as we shall cherish every memory you gave us. Until we meet again.....

The service was such wonderful tribute. Mandi and I talk often of our visit to Oz a few years back and how we loved spending that evening with you both. You on the BBQ, Chris sending you your orders from the kitchen. Been thinking back on that night a lot the past week - hard to fathom she’s gone. Alb, just know you are in our thoughts mate, far more than you’d think. All our love, Steve & Mandi xxxx

I am writing this on behalf of my mum (103 yesterday old). She always remembered you as Chrissy Matthews, even when her memory was failing. She remembered when we had a playdate at our house and Chris had a bad migraine, so she put her to bed and sent me round to let her mum know! No phones in those days. She will be so sad you have been taken before your time. X
